Brazilian businesswoman Soraia Zonta won the United Nations ( UN ) global green chemistry award. in the category Women-Led Initiatives (Women Led Initiatives). She received recognition for women's leadership in ESG sustainable management, which meets all the UN principles of socio-environmental green technology.
The award It took place in Vienna , Austria, on Thursday (13). Soon after, she was invited to become a UN green chemistry ambassador. She says it's an honor to be the first Latin American woman to win the global award.
"Being awarded gold among so many Europeans and Americans, mostly men, has a special value for me," he said.
Soraia, founder and CEO of Bioart Biodermocosméticos, was chosen by a technical jury from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a UN agency specializing in accelerating industrial development.
"I'm very excited. After the event, I was invited to represent Brazil at events in the United States and Portugal. Now our main challenge is to bring this systemic mode of green production to new entrepreneurs," she shared.
The Chemical Leasing Award highlights green chemistry initiatives that practice sustainable management of the chemicals in their formulas.
Two Bioart product lines received awards: the Essential Line and the Solar Line.
Practiced by Bioart since 2010, it is a business model in the chemical field based on sustainability and circular economy, as it shifts the focus from the quantity of chemical products traded to a service-oriented approach with high added value.
